SYNOPSIS: The epic conclusion to the internationally acclaimed Captive Prince trilogy.

Damianos of Akielos has returned.

His identity now revealed, Damen must face his master Prince Laurent as Damianos of Akielos, the man Laurent has sworn to kill.

On the brink of a momentous battle, the future of both their countries hangs in the balance. In the south, Kastor’s forces are massing. In the north, the Regent’s armies are mobilising for war. Damen’s only hope of reclaiming his throne is to fight together with Laurent against their usurpers.

Forced into an uneasy alliance the two princes journey deep into Akielos, where they face their most dangerous opposition yet. But even if the fragile trust they have built survives the revelation of Damen’s identity – can it stand against the Regent’s final, deadly play for the throne?
Since Prince's Gambit was better, in my opinion, than Captive Prince I decided to immediately continue on with the last book because I just couldn't wait to know what was going to happen!

THE WORLD: It also starts right after where the second book ended, at the frontier with Damen being a military general/coronel/whatever.

CHARACTERS: Same characters as in the previous books. I don't want to bother writing about them again so I'll just say that in this book there was a moment where I thought I couldn't trust a character that I started liking in the second book anymore and I almost threw the book against the wall in frustration. This character hurt my favorite! That is not allowed.
May I mention that I completely hate The Regent and Damien's brother, Kastor? Those two... off with their heads!

LOVE: The ship sailed.

PLUS: Better pacing than previous books. More twists (well, she tried). Character development. I can see how the writing and plotting improved from the previous books and that makes me happy.

I also liked the ending. Close enough to be satisfying but also open enough to write fanfics, dream about it, etc lol.

No more trigger warnings but a pretty steamy scene takes place and well, it is very detailed.

MINUS: So the author tried to put on as many twists as possible... however I was able to know which twist was going to happen at what time easily. Must be my Lauren-like mind or something but none of the twists surprised me... and that was disappointing. I don't know about other people but specially at the grand revelation I was like "I knew about this two books ago, what are you talking about?" so yeah that's a minus.

OVERALL: 4 stars. I wouldn't say it's my favorite series, not at all. It was okay. I enjoyed it but I'm pretty sure I will forget about it soon (specially the details). If you're tough enough to push through the trigger warnings of the first book I would recommend you this series and even more so if you like m/m pairings.
